The importance of moisturizer and sun block (SPF)

I cannot stress enough on how important Moisturizer and Sun block is. To the point it should be something your face is covered in, even if you are staying the day at home..... if light comes in SPF GOES ON.

One of the biggest misconceptions about sun block (SPF) is that it protects your skin from getting darker which I am sorry to say is that it most certainly does not. Sun block SPF protects your skin from harmful sun rays, sun can lead to pre aging and can lead to horrible pigmentation, meaning your skin will have a darker colored marks and will not have an even tone and you will age way before time and look a zillion years older, which does take forever to happen but when it does there is no turning back at all.

I my self hate the texture of sun block, its normally thick, does not feel nice and makes your face look and feel oily, so if that’s not your cup of tea…. You have options!

1)      Buy a moisturizer which has SPF in it (NOTHING LESS THEN 30)
2)      Invest in a Primer, they are a lot of primers in the market which act as a moisturizer and also have SPF in them, that takes two main steps away from what should be your daily skin care routine.
3)      Or just get a sun block

Facts

Your face, neck and hands are most prone to dryness and premature aging if not given enough hydrating moisturizer and not protected well enough from the sun…

dry skin types age faster then oily and combination skin types.. the natural oil of your face keeps your skin hydrated so do not take drastic measures to block your pores to keep the oil out.

Recommendations

Neutrogena Healthy Defense® Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 - Tinted & Untinted

Bobby Brown SPF 50 UV PROTECTIVE FACE BASE

Laura mercier tinted moisturizer/ primer with SPF

The Bobby Brown and Laura mercier ones will be on the expensive side but are just amazing, (Bobby Brown is abit oily though, so if you have dry skin would be ideal and for days you dont plan on being in the sun).
But a great affordable option is the neutrogena one, used and tested and very good! iv have been using neutrogena  for ages as daily wear and absolutly love it.

Acne Prone Skin!! PROACTIVE SOLUTIONS

Hey everyone.. today's post is directed towards acne prone skin, I my self went through some major acne prone skin till about a year and a half ago and trust me when I say I tried pretty much everything out there, from blemish pens to hard core acne creams to face washes and as far as natural remedies and even kept away from fired foods and chocolates, ( which in my opinion  is a complete myth…. Yea! If you are consuming ten candy bars a day you will have some unexpected zits a day but a few bites here and there or even an entire candy bar will not give you zits)

So that in a nut shell was my acne-filled life, I hated going out, I hated being seen without makeup and even if my zits were not visible I KNEW THEY WERE THERE.

And then one fine day I was introduced to what in my opinion is the best product out there which actually works.. taaa daaa “PROACTIVE”. I also as most people was very skeptical  and had my doubts on trying yet another product which would push my hopes high but result in nothing less then an utter waste of money but I went ahead and got there set which contains of a cleanser, toner, repairing cream and a mask, the total cost of this set is RM200 and it lasts at least 5months if not more, depending on how lavishly you use it.

Its as simple as the usual cleansing routine, just substitute your daily cleanser, toner to the proactive ones. I my self don’t alone use the cleanser because it does not foam and my face just doesn’t feel clean enough with it alone, so I use a regular face wash and the cleanser.

I can vouch for this product because I saw results in the first week, actually day by day you can see your skin getting clearer and less oilier and my friends noticed the change drastically as well to the point where I can leave the house with no make up at all and have actually forgotten my young days of teenage misery.

You guys should really give this product a chance and the best part is that it is available all around the world.

For people in Malaysia you can find a PROACTIVE counter in times square!

But please keep in mind that using a sufficient sunblock with this product is highly important and nothing under SPF30 will suffice, and your skin may get dry, mine didn’t as I have really oily skin but I know of people who started getting dry skin after using this product. In addition once you start using this product and you achieve the results you want you can discontinue it for a couple of months but you might start getting ache again so you will have to come back and more or less use it through out.

A random find- SERA ALOBON Quadra Eye Shadow INVIGORATING COLOURS LUXURIOUS SHINNY EFFECT

On one of my make up quests i came across this quadra eye shadow kit and i must say it was a delightful surprise, if i am not mistaken SERA is a Japanese make of drug store makeup, but in terms of quality is outstanding, not as good as high street makeup of course but VERY GOOD and VERY AFFORDABLE.

they have some really nice earthy brown natural tones which come together, then they have 2 or 3 more sets in shades of blues, greens, and purples. the eye shadows are very silky with a shinny effect which makes your lids look super pretty. its one of those products you could use in the day and even for parties at night; depending on how you apply them. I liked one of the brown ones and got that only to try them out. ( always get just one when you are uncertain of the brand, it wont feel like such a waste if you do not end up liking the end result).

it is something worth getting if you do not want to spend a ton of $ on eye shadow, and if you want something pretty for daily wear and are more keen on saving your special makeup for special occasions =)

oh and the packaging of this product is really gooood. very slick, comes in a little pouch, has an attached mirror and two application brushes! cost paid RM 19.00

MAC PREP + PRIME VS LAURA MERCIER FOUNDATION PRIMER

i have been using both these products for quite a while now and thought id write up a review on them.
firstly primers are just great, they feel lovely on the skin and really make your skin feel smooth and really prepare your face into the perfect canvas, ready to be painted on.

The MAC prep +prime is lovely and is really worth what you spend, it lasts a long way mainly because you just need a tiny bit that covers your entire face. the primer is really light weight and has a lovely pearly sheen to it and goes on hassle free. It also claims to safe guard your skin and act as a barrier between your skin and what ever products you apply over it, which results in decreased blocked pores.

I love this primer and have used it quite a lot but mostly in the winter weather or when i travel to cooler climates where my skin does not tend to get too oily. my skin atleast seems to get very glow-ly and shinny in the summers when i use this product, especially if i am out in the sun which is the only complaint i have and that it does not contain an SPF in it which forces me to wear on underneath it.

The LAURA MERCIER primer on the other hand is just amazing. it also is lightweight and goes on really nicely over the skin in no time at all. it is mostly transparent and is not pearly like the MAC one, which actually is nice in the sense that it has no chance of interfering with what ever make up look one would choose; whether it be matte or glossy. i really feel that this product makes your makeup last a whole lot longer and really helps achieve your foundations capabilities to their utmost. one of the best things about this primer is that it does not make your skin sticky or oily and just goes really well whether be it summers or winters what ever the skin type... A WINNER! :)
