Essence Cosmetics- Product Reviews

The "Essence" brand brings back childhood memories, it was one of the first brands i tried out when i was visiting Germany as a teenager. I was taken in by the cute, fun packaging and all the glitter and girlie-ness.

I had long forgotten about the brand until i came across a cute little store dedicated to essence here in KL, Malaysia and was drawn in by the nostalgia for my long past teenage years.

Even as a teen i loved the products this brand had to offer, especially considering the quality, pigmentation and the quantity of the product and all they had to offer at such reasonable price. And trust me when i say it is excellent product quality for the price. I must add that i have very sensitive skin and i am always scared of trying out new products or cheaper products as i always end up fearing that i might get a reaction but nothing so far, which is why i am certain that they use good quality ingredients which are carefully selected.

I have not tried that many of their products but i will share with you the stuff i have purchased and hope that you guys find some hidden treasure at a price that will make you smile, this brand is especially great if you are in to make and just want to build up your core collection and try out new stuff with out spending an arm and a leg.

1. lip liners - i don't know about you guys but i hate spending a lot on a lipliner, especially because i have yet to come across one that really has stood out to me and lets face it the only time you need all those fancy colored lip liners is when you are going a dark lip, or a red lip. So to add on to my collect i got No 4 Honey bun and No 8 Red Blush. These liners are creamy, pigmented and do the job!

2. Translucent Loose Powder - I got their fix & matte powder essentially to dab on under the eyes when doing a heavy dark smokey eye to avoid color fall out, but as it turns out its great to actually fix & matte =).

3. Cream eye shadow- I like cream eye shadows mainly to create a base and enhance powder shadows, which is why i am not a big fan on spending lots on paint pots and all. I was really pleased when i saw essence did a few and the minute i saw the black one and got it right away. Only complaint is i wish they had a wider color range. Ballerina backstage eye soufflé in No 03 grand-plie in black.

4. Eye Shadow- a just for fun purchase cause i liked the colors in this Sun Club glamour to go eye shadow palette in No 01 south beach. They had a really nice nude worth getting if you don't have already have basic nudes.

5. Bronzer -  I rarely have ever seen any good matt bronzing powder so seeing this caught my eye, and i must say it is really nice, long lasting and matt, i use this really often for contouring and shading, only con though is the smell =S but i guess one gets over it in time.  "Bronzing compact powder matt No 02 love to be matt.

6. Blush - I just don't believe in saying No to a nice pigmented blush. Silky touch blush in No 20 Babydoll. This blush is actually one of my favorites and it has amazing lasting power.

In addition to above make up products i have purchased many of their nail polishes and i love them, they make some really great, fun colors and they last really well. Just great!

Hope you guys enjoyed this post and do let me know what your favorite Essence products are! xx

Fresh - soy face cleanser

A few weeks ago I decided to try a new cleanser and stumbled at the "fresh" isle at sephora when the soy cleanser caught my eye.

What intrigued me the most about this cleanser is all the natural goodies it contains such as soy of course which has loads of amino acids and antioxidants, super great for your skin !! Along with that the formula also contains cucumber, aloe and ginseng which aid in soothing, toning and also counter act minor dryness.

Another great pro to this cleanser is how gentle it is, it doesn't irritate your eyes the least bit and it wonderful at removing all make up including eye liners and mascara! I do cleanse twice at night with this if I have a full face of make up on though...just to make sure all the make up is removed!
This cleanser is also recommended for skin types, so no fuss!
I really am enjoying it and would definitely recommend it if your in the market for trying out a new ever so fresh cleanser :)

Lancome -Rouge in Love

Emma Watson has embodied the latest Lancome line of lipsticks known as "Rouge in love". This latest launch by Lancome has driven the market wild and no one can be held account, especially with the lovely hot coral hearts, and little sketches of the Eiffel Tower and the ever so upbeat "oh la-la rouge in love" song!

I went for the promo today at KLCC, luckily as it was the last day and fell in absolute awe of their new lipsticks! While i was their i got some VIP treatment too, lovely sales lady (forgot to catch her name) dolled me up and tried on these incredible lippies and i must say that it was love at first sight! i really liked the colors at first glance but when i tried them on....."oh la-la"they felt like a dream, very hydrating, but not sticky, and gross balm like!

They seem to a revolutionized lip balm -lip stick sort, but just the best of the kind i have ever laid hands on, and the greatest thing about them is that the color is very very pigmented and build able. They have a great feel and texture, lovely sheen, bait similar to having the lightest layer of gloss on and these lipsticks are long wear to top everything off.

Another thing i was drawn in to by the line is the concept behind, they have the lip colors to "moods" so basically they have divided all the shades in to 3 ranges know as, "Jolis Matins" which are the fresh, nude sort day wear lip shades. Followed by those are the, "Boudoir Time" shades which they define as "pop" shades for cocktail hour, these shades are identified with the letter B in the shade card. And lastly the "Tonight in my night" colors, which are vibrant lovely, slightly warmer colors for a night out!

They had a special offer going on at the time i went and i was able to get a cute orange lipstick case which holds two lipsticks and has a nifty little mirror attached, with the purchase of two lipsticks, and needless to say, so i bought! Loving the lipase, so easy to find it in your bag without all the unnecessary digging in the handbag.

I got two nude shades for now, a lighter nude color for the day and a darker one from the night collection, i also must mention that the casing it really great, very cutely done with a metallic cover, feels heavy and very posh.

Love the casing

The porefessional - Benefit

About a month ago i was at sephora  hunting for a new primer when i spotted the porefessional and decided to go for it. Amused by the name of course and the pleased with packaging (benefit always has really cute packaging.. Big fan!!) i trotted back home and of course tried it right away...

I wanted to get a true feel of the product and see if the claims were true or not so i didn't bother using any moisturizer and just applied the balm directly on to my face. i have to admit that i loved the texture and feel, it felt as if i was applying liquid creamy silk to my face and my skin instantly felt very subtle, smooth and flawless.

i noticed a difference in my skin right away and overall the texture seemed better and my skin just looked and felt very smooth and clear.. i for one have a lot of redness around my nose area and have some prominent pores showing which really annoy me and this took care of all that in just a few seconds.

i then applied some foundation and concealer over the balm which went on beautifully and blended in seamlessly. My foundation looked great and felt great, although i do feel like it gets slightly oily after a couple of hours, but then again i do have oily skin and i always get shinny after a while, nothing some good old face powder and a blotting paper can't take care of. =) Overall  i am very pleased and having been enjoying the porefessional practically everyday since then! love it and would definitely re purchase!

The porefessional claims to be : oil free, lightweight, translucent and silky... Agreed! agreed! agreed and Agreed =) with a big "It really does minimize the appearance of pores" and makes your skin look and super awesome too!

They also say you one can re apply the porefessional on top of make up to touch and freshen up...i havnt tried that as yet..i really should,  have you?

Bodyshop

Bodyshop is currently having a sale here in Malaysia so I went and had a look, it was hard checking everything out with constantly being pushed and shoved!! (major rush due to the sale).
But I did manage to check out their home fragrance oils, which were nicely ignored by the public! Yay for me.., and what can I say other then they are really good and so totally worth the buy! Especially if you are looking for something that smells nice and isn't very expensive!
I also noticed that they had quite a range of fragrances which is always nice and helps everyone find something to their liking...
I brought home two, the aloe & soft linen one for our living area, it's a clean fresh crisp scent! Just perfect for the living area and then for our bedroom I got the pomegranate & raspberry one, which is a fresh, girly, sweet and just yummy fragrance! Also very fresh and perfect for the summers, although be warned! It is making me want to go run for some gelato! Mmmm!

I for one am a huge sucker for nice smelling things, be it my self, my clothes, my bath, the house, the bathrooms! Everything just has to smell good! And I just adore candles, especially scented ones! So burning an oil lamp is totally my thing, it looks pretty, and the fragrance due to the oil is a lot more stronger and lasting! And candles just add to the room and lift ones mood!! Ahh bliss!!
Give it try if you have not as yet and let me know what your favorite candles and oils are?
Xx
